The Houlahan Lab supports the Bright Run

The Houlahan Lab is now supported by the Bright Run Foundation (see here for more details). To give back, we participated in the 5km run through Christie Lake Conservation Area. In collaboration with the Daniel lab, we raised over $15,000 for breast cancer research!

New Master's student - Erika Apel

The Houlahan lab welcomes our first graduate student. Erika Apel joined the lab as a Master’s student. Erika will be studying how inherited DNA variants influence the mutational profile of glioblastoma. Welcome Erika!

Katie appointed Canada Research Chair, Tier 2 in Computational Oncology

Katie was appointed a Canada Research Chair, Tier 2 in Computational Oncology.

Katie selected as Gairdner Early Career Investigator

Katie was selected as a winner of the 2024 Gairdner Early Career Investigator award. The Gairdner ECI competition invites promising Canadian researchers to submit an application to present their research as part of Gairdner Science Week events in October. Katie was selected from among the field of applicants by the 2024 recipients of the Canada Gairdner International Award, who are being recognized for their work developing next generation sequencing technology.
